for every video VIDNAME there is a file, VIDNAME_scenes.txt. This file is two-columned frame indexes denoting the beginning and end of each scene.
Note: The frame indexing is zero-based (i.e. the first frame is 0).

For the first six videos (Big Buck Bunny, Cosmos Laundromat, Elephant Dreams, Sintel, Tears of Steel, Valkaama) scene annotation was taken from the movie scripts detailed below. Precise scene transitions were taken as a subset of the shot transitions.

The ground truth division for the other 15 videos, given that there was no available director script, was created by a number of independent human annotators. These experts were given the definition of a scene as: “a sequence of semantically related and temporally adjacent shots depicting a high-level concept or story”.
The different divisions were then aggregated and validated one against the other to eliminate biases. We then compiled them according to the most prevalent results to create the final annotated division for each video.
